Cold Sores Are Contagious So Beware!

Remember in high school when you wanted to be like and dress like your best friend. Now you may be your own unique person, but when a co worker or someone gets a cold sore you may be reminded of the time when you wanted to be just like someone, and that is because of the cold sores contagious element.
If your spouse, or your brother, sister, or child gets a cold sore then you will probably get one too. This is because cold sores are highly contagious. Touching a cold sore or coming into contact with someone else´s cold sore will give you one.
So, in this one instance, no more kissing! You don’t want to kiss, touch or come into direct contact with the affected area or you will get the cold sore. There are also other ways of catching cold sores.
When someone has a cold sore, including your spouse, you shouldn’t use the same towel he, or she does. When someone in the house gets a cold sore the first thing you want to do is replace the affected persons toothbrush. Make sure the person who has the cold sore keeps it dry and clean, and washes their hands often.
Make sure no one drinks from the affected persons glass, or uses the same eating utensils, otherwise the whole family will end up looking like each other sporting these nasty looking cold sores. Then when one person is cured, the other family member will spread their cold sore to them again, and it will become a never ending cycle.
Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus which affects 80% of the population, and is incurable. The good thing is that most of the time the virus is dormant, but can activate and causes cold sores.
Cold sores either appear because you caught it from someone else, or because your immune system is weakened, you spent too much time out in the sun, or because you are too stressed out.
In all of these cases you can control the cold sore break out with a little effort. Since cold sores are contagious you need to be very hygienic when one breaks out in the family, or with friends. You should also keep your immune system strengthened by taking vitamin supplements, and try to control your stress, if the cold sores are caused by stress.
